Thursday afternoon UPDATE

Unfortunately APRA had serious internet problems today and was offline. There is a good deal to catch up on.

FURTHER EARTHQUAKE 7.4 magnitude. Off the coast, East of Japan. TEPCO reporting no further issues at this moment (3:00 PM Eastern). Coolant injection at Nos. 1 through 3 reactor plants and nitrogen injection to the drywell at No. 1 plant are continuing.

Onagawa nuclear station, Miyagi prefecture, is reporting having lost two of three offsite power lines. The situation does not yet match LOOP (Loss Of Offsite Power) standards, and the diesels at the site are assumed operable. This station is owned and operated by Tohoku Electric Power Company, and has three reactor plants which are all BWR plants built by Toshiba (Units 1 and 2) or Toshiba/Hitachi (Unit 3.) The plants are shut down, and have been since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11.

Back to Fukushima Daiichi... Nitrogen inertion of the drywell continues at No. 1 plant, where the latest feedwater nozzle temperature is about 216C, continuing a steady if slow decrease. Containment pressure is rising very slowly.

There are no further details at the moment.. but we're keeping an eye out for further reports in case this latest earthquake has caused any effect whatsoever at Fukushima Daiichi or any other plant for that matter and will have updates here as soon as they're confirmed.
