Fukushima Daiichi 7 & 8 project

We've just seen a story saying that the annual economic plan that TEPCO submitted to the local and national governments in fact did include reference to the ongoing project to build two more plants, No. 7 and No. 8, at the Fukushima Daiichi site.

This report, due by and submitted on March 31st, naturally put the Fukushima Prefecture government up in arms. TEPCO says that it simply didn't revise the report (probably done well in advance) in light of any developments concerning the accident at the site.

So now we're getting closer to seeing the whole future of the site, which I guessed at a week or so ago. We know Nos. 1 through 4 will be demolished. We're now pretty sure it's safe to say that No. 7 and 8 will never be built.

This leaves 5 and 6. I'm guessing that new seismic and tsunami standards, coupled with the proximity of the Fukushima Daiichi site to this now-dangerous fault line, and the fact that only No. 6 has a Mk II containment might well doom these two plants as well.. but that remains to be seen.
