Info Post
The NRC has released the following data:

At about 6:49 PM on the evening of Saturday, April 16th a tornado touched down on the Surry Power Station site at the location of the electrical switchyard. This led to in immediate LOOP (Loss Of Offsite Power) situation, which resulted in both Unit 1 and Unit 2 experiencing automatic protective actions (turbine generator trip, and full reactor scram.)

Both plants operated and responded as planned and expected. The plants are in an "intermediate shutdown" or hot shutdown status. As of the time of the report to the NRC four site diesels were providing power, two to each reactor plant as designed. At the time of the notification (Saturday) work was already underway to restore offsite power to limited loads. (We assume it has been restored, but are checking.)

The report states the reactor plants were being cooled by natural circulation on the primary side, and aux feed and steam venting on the secondary side. These are three-loop Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactors.
