Info Post
1:55 PM EST, or about seven hours since my initial post..

Eleven nuclear plants in Japan are reported shut down. The fire reported earlier was not serious.

One of six BWR plants at Fukushima is apparently overpressurized in hot shutdown and very likely has lifted a relief; the Japanese equivalent of the NRC has reported that the plant will vent steam at some point soon, certainly from a primary relief suppression tank.

Some sources are reporting that the EDG's (Emergency Diesel Generators) at Fukushima are non operational and that portable diesels are being sent in by road. The plant is reported thus to be on battery power; these reports are sketchy. I will look at the wires and official sources and update as I find information..
