Info Post
Chubu Electric Power, owner-operator of the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, has announced plans to put a diesel generator on high ground at or near the facility as soon as possible as a response to unexpectedly high tsunami waters now known to have been formed by the earthquake of last week.

The company also plans to delay some work at the plant to give training on a newly delivered diesel generating truck which apparently can be connected to the plants in emergency.

Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station has three operating reactors, with two shut down and undergoing decommissioning while one further is planned. No. 1 went online in 1974 while No. 2 went online in 1978. The decision to shut these two down was made in December 2008 and they both shut down for good in June, 2009. No. 3 went online in 1986, No. 4 in 1993 and No. 5 in 2004.
