It is coming across the wires now that TEPCO is estimating 70% of the fuel is damaged at Daiichi No. 1 and about 33% at the No. 2 reactor.
This seems to run counter to previous accumulated data from the experience, but it may be that power history is different for the plants, or that fuel types are different (One plant is said to have Pu-mix MOX fuel, with a lower PCT limit) but there is no reason to doubt the report unless the figures are simply reversed.
