TEPCO is reported as being very concerned about the spent fuel pool at No. 4 plant, making the statement that "chances of recriticality of these elements is not zero."
This is exceedingly rare -- the worry that spent fuel in a pool like this could achieve any sort of chain reaction. Normally fuel elements in this type of storage are so far subcritical as a group that there is no worry.
The company is considering helicopters spraying boric acid as a remedy to the situation at No. 4 plant's fuel storage pool.
